In 2001 WMS introduced the acclaimed
Monopoly-themed series of slots, and this time the company decided to lease them out to casinos, instead of selling them. It turned out to be a very wise decision.
By 2011, the lease fees and the net licensing revenues generated by each game exceeded the profit margins of the games WMS were still selling to casinos. Their revenue grew to an all-time high of
$783.3 million during the same year, a number which declined much during the coming years.
The primary market of WMS is still the United States, where they get 70 % of the company's revenues from. But the software developer have distribution facilities in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, China, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, South Africa, Spain and the United Kingdom, as well as an entire online gaming center in Belgium.
